Bavarian Bierhaus @ The Curve

Hi All, it's been awhile I didn't update anything in my blog although I have already uploaded all the photos. Kinda busy this days yet I can't just leave my blog aside, thus today would like to take out some space to updating it.

Believe most of the food blogger have been to Bavarian Bierhaus German Restaurant at The Curve. As most of you know German foods are famous on one thing: Pork~ Thus, while we were planning for one of JJCM's member birthday, we would like to take the apportunity to try out German food at Bavarian Bierhaus restaurant (non-halal).

Bavarian Bierhaus restaurant located just behind TGI Friday or The Apartment, it just few steps away from Big Apple Donuts and Eden. It's pretty easy to spot the restaurant.

Original Munich - 0.33ml RM21++, 0.5L RM27++, 1L RM53++, it's kinda special beer for me as I can feel there is some honey brewed together with the beer.

Wheat Beer Natural - 0.33ml RM21++, 0.5L RM27++, 1L RM53++, the naturally cloudy Paulaner beer is the number one best seller, it's smooth and nice to drink.

Frozen Ocean - a combination of apple juice, sour mix with soda. RM13.90

Pineapple Sunshine - combination of pineapple juice, orage juice, passion puree, sour mix with soda. RM13.90

Cheers with Paulaner~

This is a must try - Pork Knuckle, there are 3 flavour of pork knucker and we have go for Crispy Pork Knucker with smoked bacon & honey papper glaze served with sour cabbage and sauteed potatoes. RM55

The pork knuckler was huge and crispy with honey flavour. It's awesome meal of the night.

Take some sour cabbage to balance up your stomach after all the sinful meal..

You may put some mushroom sauce onto the pork knuckler, I suggest not to put the sauce as you already can feel the fantastic taste eventhough only eat with the crispy honey pork knucker.

Chorizo - Grilled italian sausages with creamed spinach, parsley - dill potato and crispy onion, it's been recommended by some of the food bloggers as well. RM39

Gordon Blue - Rolled up breaded pork escalope with turkey ham, cheese, streaky bacon, served with fries and cucumber salad. RM42

Gordon Blue stuffed rich of ham and cheese inside, it might not suite for the person who don't like on dry food without any sauce.

Barbeque Baby Pork Rib with dried plum barbeque sauce served with brussels sprout in beer and mash potato. This is one of the recommended meal by me as well, it really taste good for the baby pork rib. You should try it next time. RM56

I have ordered Bavarian favourite slice of Juicy Pork Roast on caraway served with potatoes and asparagus, it taste juicy for the pork roast and the meat was tender, another good meal of the night. RM46

Happy Birthday to the birthday girl - Christabelle~

May all your sweet dream come true sweet little girl, all the best ya!

We have spent RM398.85 for the bill at that night included 5% tax and 10% service charge and it's worthy to pay that much as we all are satisfy for the foods especially for Crispy Pork Knuckles. It's a good experience for me tho. =)

Banana Leaf Rice

Struggling the whole day and night and try to find out which place is suitable for your friend (Vegetarian) and most of your friends (Meatarian) having lunch? It's time to go for vegetarian meal yet still able to get some meats (Chicken, Mutton, Fish~) Banana Leaf Rice will be one of your choice.

As today, one of our lunch companion is vegetarian thus we decided to go for Banana Leaf Rice @ Restaurant Sri Grand City which nearby University Hospital.

If you are unfamiliar with the area, here are some tips for you. The direction shall start from SS2 roundabout while you're heading to UM (University Malaya) after the fly-over bridge and Jaya One. UM shall at left beside you and after awhile you will reach a traffic light while University Hospital just at your left hand side, make a right turn after traffic light and go straigh, you will found out one school (I have forgotten the name) at your left hand side.

After passed by the school, turn into left at 1st junction and go straigh away. You will found out few Indian restaurant at your right hand side and Restaurant Sri Grand City right beside you too. This is the corner shop and you can easily spot it as I guess this is one of the restaurant which have air-cond facilities.

A drink called Muhru ais (RM1.60), according to my friend, it's some yogurt drink mix with sour cream, onion, some kind of veggies, mixed around together. When you drink it, you can feel a little abit sour and onion smell.. Feel interested? Try it out next!

A normal version of banana leaf rice served with Crispy Keropok, Ladies' fingers, cucumber, vegetable and curry (Chicken, Fish or Dal). Some of the restaurant did provide Deep Fried bitter gourd and it's very nice if you ever try that. I like it..

2 kind of soup for your meal. For those who can't live without soup and also for you to clear up fat and cholesterol after the heavy meal.

Sambal Tofu, my friend has ordered this and not because of the tofu but the sambal.. Haha. This is special and ya, the sambal is good! (RM1.40)

I have ordered dry mutton because I love mutton so much! At first I have order curry mutton but it has out of stock thus decided to go for dry mutton and it taste good too! I can't feel the milky smell at all yet it's kinda spicy, so it's totally my favourite.. ^^* (RM6.00)

For those who have experince on banana leaf rice, should know the meaning of this after meal. Just a little tips for those who never try out banana leaf rice, while you finish your meal, please fold over your banana leaf either facing inward or outward.

(1) Facing inward (like display pic) - Means you are satisfy for their foods and will come again.
(2) Facing outward (the other way around) - Means you are not satisfy their foods and will never come agian.

I'm facing inward as this is the 2nd time I have visited their restaurant.. Definitely will come agian! =)

Oh ya, something which I can't really understand for the bill, I found out the bill stated:
2 B/Leaf NonVege -RM9.00 (RM4.50 each)
3 B/Leaf Vege - RM15.00 (RM5.00 each)

Any reason out there? 5 of us having banana leaf rice too and 3 of us have ordered 2 mutton and 1 tofu but other 2 friends just go for normal version of banana leaf rice, does they count like this? If in this way then should be 2 B/Leaf Vege and 3 B/Leaf NonVege right? *Scratching my head*..

Chap Goh Meh Mandarin Oranges Tossing Session

The 15th day of the Chinese Lunar Year is the last day of CNY. We also called it as Chap Goh Meh, traslated from Hokkien dialect as " The 15th night". Beside, it's also known as Chinese Valentine Day!

As the 15th day of CNY, there is some special event at Amcorp Mall, Cheras and any other places like Penang Island. They will having Mandarin Oranges tossing session open for all the singles, as traditional girl will be throwing mandarin oranges and guy will be the one who picking all the mandarin oranges from girls. As I never join this event before, thus me and my colleagues decided to heading to Amcorp Mall and have a look after work.

One of the speciality for this event is girl will be writing their name and contact number on the mandarin orange and while guy picking up the orange, their will choose to sms the girl or call up the girl. The purpose they doing this is just to make more friends instead of really find the other half in their life. People just make it for fun! And now, even guy can choose to throw apple or bananas to the lake in order to find their other half. Kinda interesting huh.

We reached Amcorp Mall around 9pm and there's full of cars and peoples. Everyone seems excited on this event and not even singles joining, I even saw couples and daddy comes with his small kid.. Err.. Daddy wanna pick the oranges or helping his small kid picking the oranges? lolx

15th night and full moon up to the sky..

Throwing Mandarin Orange session start after the speech and everybody threw their oranges from far far away to the lake! Can you see one of the mandarin orange been thrown by unknown single?

And guy shall be the one who pick up all the mandarin orange, look at this guy, gotcha!

And more and more mandarin oranges he got~

012-xxxxxxx One of my colleague help me to write down my name and phone number before throwing the orange to the lake.. >.+" Let's see whether it works or not..

If you are not interested in throwing and picking up mandarin oranges, there are some performance on the stage there as people singing and dancing on the stage.

We leave there after 1-2 hours time and I found out this! Someone has picked a bag of mandarin oranges with all the contact.. Guess he must be very busy coming the day as he will calling or sms-ing all the contact there.. Haha..

Too many delicious foods in my list yet too less time I have, thus on Saturday, 31st Jan 2009, me and my sista brother step onto Island again to try out some of the famous yet truly from Penang foods!

Taman Emas restaurant, 金园茶餐食located just opposite of Penang Chinese Girls High School (槟华女子中学) Peng Hua Penang which famous on Laksa. If you are not fan of Laksa, you can try out Char Keow Teow and other foods too.

Fried pop piah, eating with Laksa..

A plate of Penang Char Keow Teow, this is delicous..

Here you go~ Penang Laksa eating together with pop piah, get one of the pop piah and putting in laksa soup then have a bite. Yum yum~ You should try that...

After Laksa at Taman Emas restauran, we were heading to Penang Road having famous cendol as dessert and I would said this is the best cendol in Penang. As people says, your trip in penang would be never complete without trying out penang road cendol, see the crowd?? Everyone comes for their cendol.

There are 2 stalls just opposite each other and it's pretty easy for you to differentiate which is the most famous cendol stall. Because their stall is always full of crowd and it's located beside Joo Hooi restaurant.

Or maybe you could recognize through the BOSS face.. =)

Cendol will be RM1.70 per bowl and RM1.90 for take away..

Penang road cendol is just nearby Komtar and Prangin Mall or opposite of Police station. If you are not familar of the place, you could just ask anyone around there and I believe they will point to the right place.

Beside of Cendol, which place is a must visit or else your trip in penang will never be complete? There will be - Batu Feringgi! A relaxing place of mine.. Beach is always my first choice of vacation spot.

We did not drove through Batu Feringgi, we just stopped in behind Crown prince hotel which is public beach for every visitors. Currently Crown prince hotel is under construction thus if you wanna park at housing area, bear in mind, there will be some people come along to you and collect for money. One of the bad culture for Malaysia and we need to paid for RM2 per car.

"Wilson! Wilson!" from... Cast Away??

My little cousin sista help me wrote my name on the beach..

If you were around Batu Feringgi, where should you go for dinner? Gurney drive? Ehem.. I will said Boring and expensive~ And it's for foreigner.. Special western food? yea, let's try it out!

I can't really tell you how to get there, but if you ask the person around Batu Feringgi or Penang area, they might know. It's located opposite Island Plaza and somewhere nearby "Tua Pui Loh" Chicken Rice - 大肥罗鸡饭 at Fettes Park. Their business hour start from 6pm.

Steak, Chicken Chop, Fish & Chips, Pork Chop, Lamb Chop, Mushroom Soup and etc etc.. Variety Choices of western foods.

Mushroom soup - RM2.50
Spicy Thai Chicken - RM7.50

Chicken Cordon Bleu - RM7.50

From first it looks like normal fried chicken chop, when you cut into half the secret has exposes as they have stuff lots of cheeses and ham into the chicken chop. Special tho.

Fish & Chips - RM6.50

Fried Egg & Sausages - RM5

Indiana Chicken - RM7.50 .. One of the special chicken chop too, special sauces with lots of onion.. Worth to try~
